Interested in going on to medical school? USD has programs and recommended coursework designed to prepare you for medical school applications.
Your Path in Pre-Medicine
If you intend to pursue a career in medicine, you must carefully plan your undergraduate program in order to meet the requirements for admission to medical school. Many medical schools require the B.A. or B.S. degree for admission, as well as look for specific coursework that aligns with admission requirements. At the University of South Dakota, you can follow a pre-medicine track to guide your coursework and timeline as you pursue your educational and career goals.
Home to South Dakota's only medical school, USD is a leader in medical education. That tradition of excellence extends to our pre-medicine program; in this pre-professional path, you will take curriculum recommended by our medical school, engage in undergraduate research, learn in state-of-the-art facilities, and access specialized advising that helps you prepare for your future. USD combines the opportunities and expertise you need to maximize your educational experience.
This pre-medicine program does not lead to a degree. Review the offering details below, as well as our frequently asked questions, to learn more about how the pre-med program will shape your USD education and set you up for success.
