Accepted applicants can be notified anytime between November and March. Notification to applicants placed on our alternate list, and to non-accepted applicants will occur no later than March 31st. 

Alternate list applicants may receive notification of acceptance up to five weeks prior to the third week of July (USD SSOM orientation). 

Accepted Applicants

Accepted applicants must secure their position in the class within two weeks of receiving their notification of acceptance.

• Signed notarized form
• Signed USD SSOM Acceptance Protocols form
• $100 deposit 
  
  • Refundable if the applicant withdraws before the five-week “Commit to Enroll” deadline. All refunds will be processed in June. 

Alternate list applicants

Alternate List applicants must secure their position in the class within two weeks of receiving their notice of placement on the alternate list. The following items are required to secure your alternate list position.

• Signed notarized form
• $100 deposit
  
  • Refundable if not accepted into USD SSOM. All refunds will be processed in June.

Criminal Background Check

Prior to matriculation, all accepted students are required to complete a student background check by July 1st. Accepted Applicants will be notified with instructions for completing a criminal background check.

Acceptance Timeline

The USD SSOM follows the AAMC Application and acceptance protocols, including the "Choose Your Medical School Tool" attachment from AMCAS. 

• February- AMCAS “Plan to Enroll” option becomes available on the AMCAS applicant portal.
• Mid-April - AMCAS applicant protocols ask applicants to narrow down multiple offers of acceptance to no more than 3.
• End of April - AMCAS applicant protocols indicate that applicants hold no more than one acceptance from this point forward.
  
  • AMCAS “Commit to Enroll” option becomes available on the AMCAS applicant portal.
    
• 5 weeks prior to Orientation - USD SSOM requires all applicants to “Commit to Enroll” to our school. 
  
• 3rd week of July - Mandatory student orientation and start of classes.
