The University of South Dakota Scholarship/Award Policy
|

AUTOMATIC SCHOLARSHIPS
|
|
|
These scholarships are available to first time freshmen enrolled full time at the Vermillion main campus. They are awarded when you are accepted to The University of South Dakota, however a student can request their file be reevaluated at anytime by contacting the Admissions Office.
|
| Promise Plus Scholarship Commitment: |
- Students with strong ACT/SAT scores and a strong academic record will be considered
- Available to all majors who attend the Main Campus in Vermillion, SD
- Awards range from $500 to $2000 for up to 4 years
- No deadline
|
| John T. Vucurevich Pre-Business Scholarship: |
- Available to pre-business majors
- $500 -$1000 varied awards
- Awards based on combination of ACT/SAT and class rank
- Deadline: March 1, 2008
|

INDIVIDUAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS
|
|
| Technology Fellow Application |
- Available to full time, degree seeking undergraduate students who are South Dakota residents
- Award pays the equivalent of 32 credit hours of tuition and fees for each academic year

| USD Award of Excellence |
- Available to high school seniors who have been accepted
- Awards vary from $500-1500
- Must be attending the Vermillion campus
- Submit a resume listing your high school activities and accomplishments
- In 300 words or less, answer the following question:
If you could invite three historical figures to dinner, who would you invite and how would your leadership qualities compare to those sitting at your table?
- Deadline April 18

| Sanford School of Medicine Alumni Student Scholars Program: |
- Available to South Dakota high school seniors with an interest in medicine
- Must have a 28 or higher ACT and excellent grades
- A minimum guarantee of $2000 per year for four years in USD Scholarships and conditional acceptance into The Sanford School of Medicine at USD
- Four scholarships are awarded each year
- Deadline: December 15, 2008
- Finalists will be asked to interview on campus

COMMON SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

| USD School of Law Honor Scholar Program: |
- Open to high school seniors with an interest in law
- Must have a 27 or higher ACT and excellent grades
- Up to five students will be awarded provisional acceptance to The U's Law School
- Finalists will be asked to interview on campus
|
| Mickelson Scholarship: |
- Awarded to academically talented South Dakota residents
- Must have a 30 or higher ACT or 1310 or higher SAT
- Scholarship awards $8,500 each year for four years (a four-year value up to $34,000)
- Finalists will be asked to interview on campus
|
| Presidential-Alumni Scholarship: |
- Open to all students with a 27 or higher ACT
- Eleven are awarded each year
- $4,750 each year for four years
- Finalists will be asked to interview on campus
|
| Rawlins Scholarship: |
- Awarded to the highest ranking senior at the following high schools: Aberdeen Central and Roncalli; Brandon Valley; Brookings; Huron; Mitchell; Rapid City Central and Stevens; Sioux Falls Lincoln, O'Gorman, Roosevelt, and Washington; Vermillion; Watertown and Yankton
- Based on 7th semester class rank
- $2200 each year for four years

| Ulloyt Scholarships: |
- Awarded to American Indian senior high school students who have demonstrated strong academic potential and a significant commitment to their communities.
- $20,000, four year financial commitment to qualified American Indian senior high school students.
- Scholarship awards also may be made in various amounts and for shorter periods.

| Farber Scholarships: |
- Awarded to high school seniors who plan to major in political science and minor in leadership studies
- $1000 for freshman year; renewable for up to four years
|
| Margaret B. Sanger Scholarships in English: |
- Awarded to high school seniors who plan to major in English
- Amounts vary each year

DEPARTMENTAL SCHOLARSHIPS

|
| Athletic Scholarships: |
- Awarded based on athletic talent
- Amounts and number of awards vary

| Music Scholarships: |
- Awarded to students majoring and/or minoring in music and talented non-majors
- Auditions are held in February and March
- Amounts and number of awards vary each year

| ROTC Scholarships: |
- Awarded to students based on ACT/SAT scores, physical fitness test, leadership activities and personal interviews
- 100% tuition and fees, $900 per year for books plus monthly stipends from $250 to $400
- Scholarships awarded for up to four years
- Deadline: November 15, 2007
