MEDLINE provides citations and abstracts from more than 5,000 biomedical journals published in the U.S. and in 80 other countries. The database contains over 17 million citations. Coverage is worldwide, but most records are from English-language sources or have English abstracts. It provides online access to several standard medical textbooks, images, journal articles (including selected articles from MEDLINE / PubMed and from selected journals within the Clinics in North America series), peer-reviewed practice guidelines, Gold Standard drug information, patient education handouts, and opportunities for continuing medical education credit (approved by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)). Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews Full-Text: Yes Vendor: Ovid Availability: All Wegner Partners Description: The Cochrane Reviews are systematic assessments of evidence of the effects of healthcare interventions. They are intended to help people make informed decisions based on best available, high quality research. They explore the evidence for and against the effectiveness and appropriateness of treatments (medications, surgery, education, etc) in specific circumstances. Cochrane Review Groups focus on particular health topics such as breast cancer or tobacco addiction to create a systematic review. A systematic review uses a predefined, explicit methodology to identify and bring together all relevant studies on a particular healthcare intervention. Steps are taken to minimize bias when identifying relevant studies, selecting studies for inclusion in a review, and collecting and combining data from relevant studies. Journals@Ovid Full-Text: Yes; selective Vendor: Ovid Availability: All Wegner Partners Description: This database covers hundreds of scientific, technical, and medical journals from over 50 publishers and societies. Full-text articles are available for many of the citations; other journal articles can be ordered through the Wegner Center’s ILLiad (interlibrary loan/document delivery) system. The database is searchable by author, the author’s keywords (not MeSH), by words in the title and by journal name. Entries may include brief items such as ads, announcements, and meeting abstracts.

TRIP Database: Evidence Based Medicine Full-Text: Yes; selective Vendor: TRIP Database LTD Availability: All Wegner Partners Description: The TRIP database searches several evidence-based medicine resources found on the Internet. It includes content from critically appraised topics (CATs), systematic reviews, clinical practice guidelines (CPGs), medical images, and information from some evidence-based journal clubs. Other EBM links are available. The database dates back to 1997 and is based in the United Kingdom.
