The USD Sanford School of Medicine is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) which accredits medical schools in the U.S. and Canada. Each school undergoes a complete accreditation survey at least every eight years. The most recent survey occurred in 2017 and resulted in full accreditation. In its written exit report, the survey team recognized the school for its engaged faculty and administration, its dedicated institutional partners, the quality of its educational facilities and its well-designed, innovative and integrated educational program. In preparation for the next survey visit, anticipated in the 2025-2026 academic year, the school will kick off its self-study process in the fall of 2023.
