Recruitment

USD Knudson School of Law holds four rounds of On-Campus-Interviews (OCIs) each year, with two rounds in the fall and two rounds in the spring. Current OCI dates can be found here. Please register for OCIs using this form, or register for OCIs directly through our CSM provider. The email associated with the registration will receive student applications, interview schedules, and general OCI information. Please note that virtual interviews are part of our On-Campus-Interviews, and we are happy to accommodate your needs.

In addition to OCIs, the law school hosts a Stay-in-South-Dakota Career Fair in the fall for rural and mid-size communities to highlight areas where legal services are in great need. If you are an employer who would like to learn more about and attend this event, please fill out this form. We will also begin hosting a career fair in the spring for employers looking to connect with our students.

Our students are recruited early and often for their excellence, service, and leadership. Please look at our hiring cycle to learn why internships are the most effective recruiting tool in the current employment market.

All employers who take part in recruiting activities must abide by the University of South Dakota's Non-Discrimination Policy. Recruiting activities include—but are not limited to—on-campus interviews, resume collections, job postings, participation in programming, and all services provided through the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law.

Internship Spotlight

Success story Kali Driscoll smiling.
I am a legal intern at Foley & Foley Law Office in Watertown, SD. What attracted me to this internship was how it was specifically designed to provide a variety of exposure to different areas and types of practice. I knew this internship would expose me to a vast amount of knowledge and help me obtain valuable practical skills in a wide variety of areas. Mr. Foley served as a Judge for the Third Judicial Circuit in South Dakota and has experience on both sides of the courtroom. To be able to learn from a practicing attorney and former judge is incredible.
