About the Artists

Cassandra Miller, from Akron, Iowa, is an art education major with a specialization in painting, a minor in art history and a certificate in arts in health. Her work includes self-portraiture that encompasses emotion and mark making, still lifes that capture a moment in time and collage works that are inspired by her family. She uses colors and mark making techniques to create a sense of wonder, bringing her thoughts and feelings behind each piece to the forefront. Miller plans to start her career as an art teacher after she graduates from USD.

Trey Henke, from Akron, Iowa, is an art major with a specialization in sculpture, a minor in art history and a certificate in printmaking. His work focuses on dung beetles, exploring themes of growth, community and searching for a brighter future. He ties together beetles and the human experience through a myriad of mediums, both 2D and 3D, including cast metal, plaster, wood and paint. Henke plans other mediums and developing his craft after he graduates from USD.
