USD Law School Announces 2024-2025 Student Board Members for Three Organizations
Alternative Dispute Resolution, Moot Court and the South Dakota Law Review give students opportunities to develop and refine skills and gain experience during law school.
The boards consist of second- and third-year law students who are selected by an application and interview process.

Alternative Dispute Resolution
The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Board provides members practical legal experience competing in interscholastic competitions: Negotiation, Arbitration, Mediation and Client Counseling. With the vast majority of civil cases settling out of court, the ADR Board provides students the opportunity to gain practical experience and develop interpersonal skills as they compete against other top-performing law schools.
Comprised of 12 outstanding students – including six second-year law students and six third-year law students – the ADR Board hosts intraschool competitions for first-year law students each semester.

Moot Court
The South Dakota Moot Court Board provides students opportunities to refine skills in appellate brief writing and oral advocacy. Second- and third-year law students compete against students from other law schools around the country.
The Moot Court Board hosts the annual Sam Masten Intramural Moot Court Competition for all interested first-year law students. Finalists in the Sam Masten Intramural Moot Court Competition present oral arguments before a distinguished panel, usually composed of South Dakota Supreme Court justices.

The South Dakota Law Review
The South Dakota Law Review is an academic journal of critical commentary on current legal issues with a state, national and international circulation. Published three times per year, the Law Review contains articles by leading members of the legal profession, as well as student notes and comments.
Students involved in the Law Review develop research and writing skills while earning academic credit. A student board of editors is responsible for all editorial work, and students are selected for board membership during their second year based on their writing, leadership and dedication to the success of the Law Review.
