Dr. Knight received her PhD and MA in Ancient History from Emory University. She also holds degrees in classical studies, medieval/early modern studies, and Roman archaeology. Her research focuses on identity and culture in the Roman and post-Roman West.

Dr. Knight's research focuses on societies that were politically, socially, and ideologically marginalized after the colonial failure of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century CE; her current manuscript compares the experiences of post-Roman Britain and Ostrogothic Italy in the 5th and 6th centuries. Her other research interests include classical reception in film and fiction, the Roman frontiers, political propaganda in Latin literature, and disaster in the ancient world.
