SDCF President Bob Sutton said the primary benefit of attending the convenings is the chance to learn about timely topics from strong speakers.

“The opportunity for nonprofit leaders to spend a day with their peers receiving quality training from top-shelf instructors is invaluable,” Sutton said. “In fact, there are just not enough training opportunities for board members and staff serving the nonprofit sector in South Dakota.”

Conference attendees will also receive valuable information about the SDCF’s Nonprofit Enhancement Grant program and meet with SDCF officials and Bush Foundation program officers.

The South Dakota Nonprofit Association will be available to discuss membership benefits and work that has been done in the last 10 months to assist nonprofits in South Dakota. The Nonprofit Association will also be hosting many area vendors who will be available to provide information on a variety of products and services available to nonprofit organizations.

The first full-day session will be in Aberdeen on June 15. The second session is in Sioux Falls on June 16. Sessions will also be held at Rapid City on July 13 and at Pierre on July 15. All session locations will be at the Ramkota Hotel.

Sutton said the goal of the convenings is to offer training opportunities that will help improve nonprofits across the state.

“We are all extremely busy serving our clients, meeting our mission, and raising the funds to make it all happen. Once in awhile, we need to step back and take a look at ways we can make our organizations even stronger – fundamentally stronger,” Sutton said. “At the very least, these sessions will provide participants with an idea to change one thing at your organization that improves the work you are doing. That alone, not to mention the free lunch, certainly makes it worth your while.”
