Math Education Student Earns Trip to GermanyNews
VERMILLION, S.D. -- A University of South Dakota student has earned a trip to the annual International Congress on Mathematical Education in Hamburg, Germany, in July.
Heather Bleecker, from Polson, Montana, is pursuing her doctorate degree in the USD School of Education's division of curriculum and instruction.
To qualify for the trip, she created and submitted three lesson plans as part of an independent study course on mentoring, coaching and leadership. For her major project, Bleecker mentored under a middle school teacher for a semester, did in-depth planning and held follow-up sessions with the math teacher.
