Media and Journalism Students Win Prestigious Award
Byron Banasiak and Mason Horacek received a first-place Eric Sevareid Award from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association in the soft feature category of the student market television contest. They received it earlier this month at the Midwest Journalism Conference.
“The D-Days Video” has been viewed more than 57,000 times on YouTube alone.
Banasiak, who works in USD’s university relations office, and Horacek, who’s interning for South Dakota Public Broadcasting, both graduate next month and plan to pursue careers in visual arts.
