Short identifies and works with donors to establish scholarships and other types of directed contributions and generosity to the university’s School of Health Sciences.

"The ultimate goal of my work is to build meaningful and lasting relationships to advance and support the School of Health Sciences’ mission of educating skilled, compassionate health care professionals who will serve South Dakota and the world," Short said.

Short’s fundraising experience began at USD while she was a student who made phone calls to ask for contributions to all schools and programs at the university. After graduating from USD in 2015 with a B.S. in Business Administration and a minor in Health Sciences, she worked as part of the fundraising team at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her responsibilities there included managing the student fundraising staff. She returned to USD in 2017, and started working with the USD Foundation on several assignments before beginning her duties with the School of Health Sciences.

Short and her husband, Ben Short, who is also a graduate of USD, live in Sioux Falls, where he is a middle school teacher and a high school coach. They are the parents of a young son.
