NY Professor to Speak at USD About STEM Students at the Post Undergraduate Level
Paris Svoronos, Ph.D., has received several STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) grants that promote chemistry and has published and reviewed extensively in the chemical education literature. Since 2000, Queensborough has established undergraduate research opportunities for promising students as early as the first year of their college career. Successful candidates have been accepted to graduate programs and eventual careers both in academia and industry. Svoronos will describe the systematic approach of the effort with emphasis on the difficulties associated with the grooming of students and the strategies used to overcome them.
The lecture, sponsored by USD’s Chemistry Department, starts at 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 5, in Churchill-Haines Laboratories, Room 118.
