Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Hosts Cycle for Life
The event, which uses stationary bicycles with spin instructors, raises funds and awareness for blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma and melanoma. All money raised will benefit the M.D. Anderson Center and the cutting-edge research done to find cures for blood cancers. Since the inception of the event in 2011, the USD PIKES have raised more than $10,000 for cures and research for blood cancers.
The event honors a PIKE brother, Taylor Trudeau, who lost his battle with leukemia in 2008.
Third-year kinesiology/sports medicine major and Pi Kappa Alpha president KC Herman, is proud of the efforts of his brothers and the community. “From the USD community to the Vermilion community, we are happy and grateful to have so much participation and support,” said Herman.
Cycle for Life will be held 4-10 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 18, at the Wellness Center. The cost is a $10 donation. Details and registration are available online.
