Pianist and Professor to Give Latin American Recital
VERMILLION, S.D. -- Brazilian pianist Alessandra Feris, who joined the University of South Dakota this fall as an assistant professor of piano, will present a solo recital in Colton Recital Hall in the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11. The event is free and open to the public and will feature classical composers from Brazil, Cuba and Argentina.
Feris has as an extensive career as soloist and chamber musician. She has performed in places like Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Portugal, Serbia and more. She is well known for her performances of Latin-American music and has premiered work by contemporary Brazilian composers. Feris received a doctoral degree in piano performance at Florida State University in 2009.
“I was hired this fall and moved from the Gulf Coast. I am looking forward to performing my first solo recital at USD as a new faculty member,” Feris said.
