The lecture will focus on using the art of storytelling to enhance the emotional and logical persuasiveness of advocacy.

"It is a joy to bring Dean Rose to share his expertise on how to use the powerful combination of storytelling and the rule of law to maximize the persuasiveness of one's advocacy with my University of South Dakota family," said Laura Rose, Dean Rose’s daughter and assistant professor in trial advocacy, and the coach of USD Law's National Trial Team.

Dean Rose, a renown trial advocacy expert, was previously a professor of law and director of the Center for Excellence in Advocacy at Stetson University’s College of Law in Gulfport, Florida, where he also coached the law school’s nationally ranked trial advocacy team. Additionally, Rose spent 22 years on active duty in the Army serving as a linguist, intelligence officer and judge advocate.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University at South Bend, a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School and a L.L.M. from the Judge Advocate General’s School, United States Army.

The event is free and open to the public.
