“It is exciting for USD to be working with SculptureWalk Sioux Falls and (director) Jim Clark, to bring these six new, leased sculptures to campus,” stated Larry Schou, D.M.A., dean of the College of Fine Arts and chair of the USD sculpture committee. “Every two years, we will conduct another international call for sculptures. These first six pieces represent a good variety of diversity in artistic vision.”

The sculptures and their artists: “Generation Slaps” by Matt Miller, “Stream Chit Chat” by Won Choi, “Comma” by Lee Badger, “Meteor” by David Skora, “Relationship Series XV” by Joseph Castle, and “Manly Springs” by Dana Parlier can be viewed at Clark Street in front of the Andrew E. Lee Memorial Medicine & Science Building; Clark Street in front of the College of Arts & Sciences building; North University Street on the south side of the Wellness Center; between Beacom Hall and the School of Law building; the south lawn of the Dean Belbas Center; and east of I.D. Weeks Library.

“Our hope is that the campus and Vermillion community will enjoy and be inspired by the art,” Schou added.

In addition to Schou, the USD Sculpture Committee included Cathy Wagner, director of planning and construction, and Laura McNaughton, executive assistant to the President.
