SD High School All Star Football Game Moving to DakotaDome in Vermillion
VERMILLION, S.D. -- The South Dakota high school all-star football game will be played in USD’s DakotaDome starting this summer, the Vermillion Area Chamber & Development Co. (VCDC) said Tuesday in announcing that it had won the bid and secured title sponsorship from Sanford Health.
It will be July 9 this year but in early June thereafter. The registration fee, which had been as much as $300 per player, will be free, thanks to the collective sponsors that worked to bring the game to Vermillion. Players will stay in air-conditioned residence halls at the University of South Dakota and attend evening activities and a recognition banquet that will also be open to alumni, coaches and families.
“Once we heard of the opportunity that a new community could host this great event, we were excited,” Nate Welch, executive director of the VCDC, said of the games that had been played in Aberdeen.
