“Being Miss USD was such an exciting and fun experience,” said Ternes of Belle Fourche, S.D. “I was honored to represent the University. I have benefited from this title by being able to voice my opinion about topics that are important to me as well as meeting and working with so many great people. I realized how much of a difference determined women can make. I also benefitted by being able to volunteer my time and believe that, if able, every person should devote time to a worthy cause.”

Each year, tens of thousands of Miss America volunteers generate more than 500,000 hours of service to more than 12,000 community service projects making Miss America one of the strongest service organizations in the country. Participation in the Miss America Program empowers young women to achieve their goals, while providing a forum in which to use their talents and intelligence to achieve a platform dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others.

Tickets for the Miss USD event are $5 at the door. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. For more information about Miss USD 2008, please contact Elizabeth Overmoe, Miss USD 2006, at [email protected].
