USD and South Dakota Trade to Host International Trade Seminar Oct. 16 in Sioux Falls
The University of South Dakota and South Dakota Trade are hosting an International Trade Seminar on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the USD – Sioux Falls campus.
Attendees will learn about the ins and outs of international trade from USD professors and industry practitioners.
Event topics and speakers include the following.
- “Why Exports Matter: A Fireside Chat” by Judd Guthmiller, vice president of international affairs, Daktronics; and Luke Lindberg, president and CEO, South Dakota Trade, and adjunct professor, USD.
- “Foundations of Trade: Business Management and Leadership” by Chet Barney, Ph.D., associate professor management, Beacom School of Business.
- “Foundations of Trade: Enhancing Working Capital and Financial Sophistication” by Klaus Beckmann, Ph.D., associate dean and professor of finance, Beacom School of Business; and Michael Salerno, vice president of international banking, First National Bank of Omaha.
- Business Networking Exercise with Chelsea Limoges, industry engagement coordinator at USD.
- “Foundations of Trade: Advanced Negotiation Skills” by Tyler Custis, J.D., assistant professor, Beacom School of Business.
The cost of the International Trade Seminar is $100 and registration is required. Continental breakfast and lunch are included.
This is the fourth international trade seminar that the Beacom School of Business and South Dakota Trade have offered since first partnering in 2023. The organizations continue to introduce new educational programming designed to help businesses succeed in international trade.
