USD Center for Disabilities Mental Health Specialist Nationally Recognized
In this position, Eggerstedt, a licensed counselor, will serve as a state liaison to the CDC’s children’s mental health program and positive parenting resources. She will also work to increase awareness and a better understanding regarding children’s mental health and implement effective strategies for wellness promotion and connections between schools, families and communities.
Her current role at the Center for Disabilities involves supporting school professionals throughout South Dakota by offering training opportunities on student mental health, restorative justice, the impact of trauma on childhood development and social emotional learning practices. She currently serves as an instructor at the USD Sanford School of Medicine and is adjunct faculty for the USD School of Education Department of Curriculum and Instruction. She has been at the Center for Disabilities for three years.
The Center for Disabilities is a program of USD’s Sanford School of Medicine and is housed in the university’s Health Science Center in Sioux Falls.
