USD Chief of Police Receives ESGR Patriot Award
“I am humbled to be recognized with the ESGR Patriot Award,” said Jackson. “The skills possessed by our National Guard and Reserve employees are invaluable. As a leader at USD, I feel it is critical to support our team in any way possible. By supporting our National Guard and Reserve employees, we are building a stronger USD.”
The Patriot Award is presented by ESGR, a United States Department of Defense office, and reflects the efforts made by supervisors to support citizen warriors through a wide range of measures, including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence if needed.
Jackson has been at USD for nearly eight years. He was announced as the chief of police in October 2021, after serving as interim director since May 2021. Prior to his role as chief, Jackson served in a variety of roles, including assistant director, administrative sergeant, patrol sergeant and university law enforcement officer.
“Every day is different at USD. I love having the ability to interact with our students, faculty and staff daily,” said Jackson. “So much great work is being done at USD, and it provides a challenge to seek improvement personally and as a department.”
