Fotheringham, 18, was born with Spina Bifida, a birth defect of the spinal cord that negates the use of his legs. A wheelchair athlete from Las Vegas, Nev., Fotheringham has a passion for what he does traveling the world to raise Spina Bifida awareness. According to his Web site, www.aaronfotheringham.com, not only what he does is considered “a lot of fun,” but he wants to change the world’s perception of people in wheelchairs, as well as helping everyone see their own challenges in a new way.

In 2006, Fotheringham completed the first ever back flip in a wheelchair. Since that time he has perfected several progressively difficult tricks, including handplants, wheelers and all manners of rollouts. During his program at The U, he will be speaking as well as showing video of his athletic abilities. Autographs will be available at the conclusion of his presentation.
