USD Medical Laboratory Science Students Alumnus and Faculty Earn Scholarships and Awards
ASCLS – SD awarded three major scholarships to medical laboratory science students in the state of South Dakota, and all three are enrolled in the USD Medical Laboratory Science program.
Scholarship recipients are: Thodah Hovor, a senior MLS student who soon begins clinical rotations at Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls; Tara Stein, a senior MLS student who is doing her internship at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls; and Lauren Matthey, a senior MLS student performing her internship at St. Luke’s College (at UnityPoint Health) in Sioux City, Iowa.
ASCLS-SD also recognized the contributions of a current MLS student, a recent MLS graduate and MLS faculty member and department chair, Kari Potter, with Omicron Sigma awards. Cassie Echols, USD MLS class of 2021, was recognized for her service as a developing professional, and Iman Omar, USD MLS class of 2018, was recognized for her role as an ascending professional. In addition to her Omicron Sigma recognition, Potter was selected to serve on the ASCLS-SD board of directors for the 2020-2022 term.
