USD named to Best Value Colleges list for 2012
“The Best Value Colleges” profiles 150 colleges for their excellence in academics, generous financial aid packages and providing relatively low costs of attendance to its students. The Princeton Review praises USD for its “great student to faculty communicative experience at a reasonable price” and as “the perfect fit for students looking for a smart educational investment.”
“Now more than ever, students expect value when it comes to investing in their education,” said James W. Abbott, president of the University of South Dakota. “We’re grateful to be honored as one of America’s Best Value Colleges not just for our affordability but, more importantly, for our quality of education.”
The 150 institutions were selected as “best value” choices for 2012 based on a survey of administrators and students at 650 colleges and universities. The selection criteria covered more than 30 factors in three areas: academics, cost of attendance and financial aid. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was the No. 1 “Best Value Public College” while Williams College is ranked as the No. 1 “Best Value Private College.”
The “Best Value Colleges” list and information about the schools are posted on USA TODAY.com, which has been The Princeton Review’s online publishing partner for this project since 2009. USA TODAY’s site (http://bestvaluecolleges.usatoday.com) features an exclusive database that allows users to view in-depth details about the schools by clicking on an interactive map. The Princeton Review is a New York-based education services company known for its test-prep courses, books, and college and grad school admissions services.
