USD Statement on Yankton School Arrests
The University of South Dakota takes the issue of school security very seriously on our own campus and others. When USD learned that two of our students had been arrested on misdemeanor charges in Yankton, we responded immediately and cooperated fully with investigators. Searches of the students' residence hall rooms yielded no weapons or any other policy violations. Both students remain enrolled, though USD will await results of the investigation before making a final determination. The charges are misdemeanors and they were released on $2,000 bond, which indicates the judge does not believe them to be a danger to society.
