USD student Leighann Dunn to travel to Copenhagen for UN climate change conference
Dunn will be featured in the Operation Free Press Event at 2 p.m.on Wednesday Dec. 9, at the Muenster University Center Ballroom. She will be joined by other Veterans from the USD Veterans Club who are also members of Operation Free.
A nine-year veteran of the South Dakota Army National Guard, Dunn served in Iraqin 2003-2004 as a Bridge Engineer and served in Suriname South America as an electrician in 2008. Dunn received a bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from The University of South Dakota and is currently working on her master's degree in multicatagorical special education with an emphasis in behavior disorders and autism. Dunn is currently president of the USD Veterans Club, team captain of South Dakota VoteVets and a disabled Veteran. She was recently named one of 10 “Outstanding Young South Dakotans” in 2009 and Dunn was one of three national recipients of an outstanding female veteran scholarship in 2009.
