USD Wallace Jackmon Presents at National Conference about Social Networking Addictions
Wallace Jackmon, Ph.D., assistant professor in social work at the University of South Dakota, was selected to present to the annual conference of the National Association of Social Workers in Washington, D.C. Jackmon’s presentation was titled “Media Induced Anxiety and Depression: Treatment from a Clinical Perspective.”
Jackmon was chosen to present at the national conference from hundreds of applications. His message provided a summary of research regarding the correlation between the overuse of social networking sites and the increased risks of depression and anxiety, especially among children and adolescents. Jackmon also reviewed various treatment options and proposals for individuals who are addicted to social networking and media platforms.
Jackmon is a licensed clinical psychologist and clinical social worker in addition to teaching at the University of South Dakota.
