On Monday, April 14, Marlon Young, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Private Bank for the Americas, will address the USD community at 4 p.m. in Farber Hall. On Thursday, April 17, Greg Schmieding, vice president and general manager of global sales at Manpower-IBM, will host a lecture at the School of Business’ Patterson Hall beginning at 4 p.m. Both lectures are sponsored by the Beacom School of Business.

Young joined HSBC Bank in March 2006 as managing director and head of U.S. Domestic Private Bank. A member of the U.S. senior management team, he is responsible for driving and further developing the private bank’s wealth management capabilities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America. Under his leadership, HSBC Private Bank Americas’ client assets have increased to $76 billion and net profits have grown 34 percent. Young joined HSBC after 27 years at Citigroup where most recently, he was the head of private client lending at Smith Barney. Young’s international private bank experience encompasses assignments as team head of the Hong Kong ultra-high-net-worth segment and global markets manager for Thailand. He also has extensive corporate banking experience covering the commercial real estate, automotive and energy sectors.

Schmieding leads one of Manpower’s most valuable partnerships – IBM. Schmieding provides strategic direction and leadership to the IBM account by developing and executing creative account strategies to deliver the high value workforce management solutions IBM has come to expect from Manpower. He also has extensive management experience and driving innovative solutions to help customers propel to the next level of success. More than 20 years of Schmieding’s professional career include executive- and managerial-level experience greatly benefitting Manpower’s IBM account.
