Vidler Competes in National Classical Singer Competition
Emily Vidler, a University of South Dakota rising senior, competed in the National Classical Singer Competition hosted in Chicago, Illinois, May 27.
“I am extremely proud of Emily’s accomplishment in making it to the Chicago round of competition,” said Tracelyn Gesteland, associate professor of voice and opera. “While she just completed her junior year at USD, she is only 18 years old, so to be competing at a national level this early is quite remarkable.”
Vidler, a vocal performance and Spanish double-major, reached the second round of the competition after submitting an audition recording.
In addition to the performance competition, Vidler had the opportunity to sing in a master class given by internationally renowned opera countertenor, David Daniels.
