Student Opportunites
The Daily Surgical Consensus Conference
The Daily Surgical Pathology Consensus Conference is a key component of our educational program. Residents present complex and rare cases encountered in clinical practice, while faculty pathologists engage in discussion by asking questions, sharing diagnostic insights, and highlighting important teaching points. This interactive conference fosters collaborative learning, strengthens diagnostic reasoning, and provides valuable educational experience for residents, faculty, and support staff.
Multidisciplinary Conferences
Pathology residents attend weekly multidisciplinary conferences, where pathologists collaborate with physicians, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and other specialists to discuss complex patient cases. These conferences provide valuable exposure to interdisciplinary decision-making, integrated patient care discussions, and the impact of pathology on diagnosis and treatment planning. Residents gain insight into disease management while engaging with faculty experts across a variety of subspecialties.
Regular Conferences Include:
Monday: Gynecologic/Breast Conference
Tuesday: Genomics/ENT Conference; Pediatric Oncology Conference (3rd Tuesday of each month)
Thursday: Lung Conference
Friday: Hematology/Tumor Board and GI Conference
Faculty pathologists participate in each conference, providing residents with opportunities to observe and contribute to discussions that directly influence patient diagnosis and treatment.
