Spread the Word Inclusion Day Celebrates Unity, Advocacy for People with Intellectual Disabilities
The Center for Disabilities at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine, in partnership with Special Olympics South Dakota, has announced the commemoration of the 2024 Spread the Word: Inclusion campaign in South Dakota.
Since its inception in 2011, this impactful initiative, led by Special Olympics and Best Buddies, has been dedicated to eliminating exclusion, social isolation and discrimination faced by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
The recognition of this campaign will take place on Wednesday, March 5, at 12:30 p.m. at the South Dakota Special Education Conference. Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken will officially declare March 5 as “Spread the Word Day” 2024 and president and CEO of Special Olympics South Dakota Darryl Nordquist will deliver a keynote address.
