USD Professor Helps Shape Future Fulbright Leaders
This marks his second appointment, following the successful completion of his first three-year term, which ended in 2024.
The appointment, extended by the Institute of International Education on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, recognizes Avoseh’s deep expertise, global perspective and longstanding commitment to international education. He will serve on the English Teaching Assistantship Committee for East Africa, contributing to the rigorous, binational selection process that identifies top candidates for Fulbright awards.
A Continued Role in a Global Mission
As part of the NSC, Avoseh will:
- Review and evaluate 40 to 45 applications from U.S. students seeking to serve as English teaching assistants in East Africa.
- Participate in a virtual deliberation with fellow committee members.
- Recommend semifinalists for further consideration by Fulbright’s supervising agencies in host countries.
Committee service is voluntary and highly selective. Each year, IIE recognizes NSC members for their essential contributions in a formal letter to their institution’s president or provost.
