$100,000 HRSA Grant Will Establish Network of Behavior Analysts in South Dakota
The South Dakota Behavior Analyst Network Development (BAND) grant, in the amount of $100,000, will create a program that works closely with the USD Applied Behavior Analyst Program and its director, Ryan Groeneweg, Ed.S., BCBA, to establish a committee tasked with developing a statewide network focused on increasing behavior analyst support, especially within rural health care settings.
The financial support will help develop the strategic plan for implementing and sustaining clinical experiences for graduate students in applied behavior analysis, who will become invaluable members of interprofessional health care teams in rural South Dakota. These opportunities for high-quality training and education programs will pair with clinical placement sites within in South Dakota.
“There is a significant shortage of behavioral analysts in the state, particularly in rural areas, and we need to support the development of behavioral service professionals, particularly those with BCBA® certification, to serve and benefit our communities,” Groeneweg said.
Partners in South Dakota BAND include the University of South Dakota Center for Disabilities, University of South Dakota School of Health Sciences, Community Healthcare Association of the Dakota’s (CHAD), South Dakota Department of Health Division of Healthcare Access and South Dakota Department of Social Services Division of Behavioral Health.
