USD's Katie Kassin Appointed to State Board of Medicine
The mission of the South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners is to protect the health and welfare of the state’s citizens by assuring that only qualified health care practitioners are licensed to practice in South Dakota.
“I am honored to be the first physician assistant appointed to the newly expanded Board of Medicine in South Dakota,” Kassin said. “As health care professionals who work together on a regular basis, this new formation of the Board of Medicine reflects the collaborative nature of our work and for PAs and the other allied health professionals to have a voice in the oversight and disciplinary actions within our respective fields.”
Kassin’s term on the board is set for three years. She also serves on the South Dakota Medical Marijuana Oversight Committee in her role as a physician assistant.
“I am committed to upholding the board’s mission of protecting the health and welfare of South Dakota’s citizens,” she said. “As a PA, I swore to do no harm, and I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with other health care professionals to ensure we provide the best possible care to the patients of our state.”
