Graduated from Morningside College with a BSN in May 2005. Earned my MSN from Walden University in 2011. I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice in August 2024 from the University of South Dakota, with an emphasis in Organizational and Systems Leadership. I also hold an advanced certification in Simulation, CHSE-A.
I really enjoy teaching nurses to think critically through situations that present and figure out how to use their knowledge and experience to find solutions. I enjoy utilizing a variety of learning techniques in the classroom to reach as many learners as possible. I am also passionate about simulation and working to bring relevant topics to learners so they have a chance to practice and see a situation before it happens with a real patient in the hospital. Simulation provides new nurses with experiences to pull from, enabling them to recall what happened and what to do when those same situations present themselves in the hospital setting.
I am very interested in simulation research and how it can support learning and bridge the gap between academic and practice settings. I strive to remind students of their why and help them find positivity and joy in the journey and the challenges they face as they work toward that goal.
