Shelly M. Grinde, MA, CCC-SLP is a licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist. Ms. Grinde currently is an instructor in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department at the University of South Dakota. Ms. Grinde is responsible for teaching two sophomore-level undergraduate courses including Phonetics and Speech Science, as well as four graduate-level courses including Dysphagia, Professional Issues, Applied Clinical Methods, and Integrated Clinical Methods. In addition, Ms. Grinde supervises students in the clinic and is the internship coordinator. Ms. Grinde has over 28 years of varied experience working with individuals of all ages and their families in preschool and school settings, adult inpatient and acute hospital settings, a University Center for Excellence on Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), and Skilled Nursing Facilities. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from South Dakota State University and her Master of Arts degree from the University of South Dakota. Ms. Grinde is a member of the South Dakota Speech Language Hearing Association, receiving the Volunteerism Award in 2011 and the ASHFoundation State Clinical Achievement Award in 2022. She is a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association. Additionally, she is a site visitor with the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.
