2025 Unite for USD Sets Record with $2.67M Raised

Unite for USD is a virtual day of giving coupled with events and activities in Vermillion and Sioux Falls to unite USD alumni and friends in support of the university. Donors supported more than 50 different initiatives this year, with close to 3,000 individual gifts.
“I am blown away by the turnout and support we saw during Unite for USD 2025,” said USD Foundation & Alumni Association President & CEO Noah Shepard. “It’s moments like these that truly showcase how tight-knit and dedicated the Coyote community is in ensuring our students thrive."
More than $50,000 was raised for the Coyote Beginnings Fund, bolstered by the Ellis Impact dollar-for-dollar match. The Ellis Impact was introduced in 2025 to inspire support for the university's greatest need—scholarship assistance. The funds raised during Unite for USD will provide scholarships for more than 25 students in the coming year.
The event also highlights the many ways donors can support USD, from academics to athletics and student services. One such initiative, Charlie’s Career Closet, raised more than $7,000 from 48 donors, helping students build their professional wardrobes and gain confidence as they prepare for the workforce.
“Unite for USD not only helped us reach our financial goals but also served as a powerful platform to raise awareness about Charlie’s Career Closet,” said Center for Career & Life Design Director Ashlin Schoenfelder. “This year, we had a record amount of donations, and I am so grateful for every single donor who donated to Charlie’s Career Closet. Every single dollar raised will help our USD students dress for success.”
Other highlights from giving day include.
- More than 600 donors gave to Coyote Athletics
- Alumni comprised more than 30% of donors
- 363 faculty and staff members participated
