In its third year, GatheRED seeks to connect the USD and Vermillion communities through family-friendly activities, local food vendors and live music. GatheRED is part of the VCDC and VermillionNEXT's Thursday on the Platz series – Vermillion's premier live music event – and marks the final event of the summer season.

Here are five reasons to attend GatheRED, the event in which "The Red Connects Us All."

1. Listen to live music

With appearances from both USD's marching band, The SOUND of USD, and local band Blue Rune, the night will be filled with great energy and talented musical performances for everyone to enjoy.

2. Indulge in food & drinks from local vendors

Food provided by Karlie's Kitchen, Pizza Ranch, HyVee and Cow & Spoon will be available to purchase, in addition to beverages and a variety of draft beers from Fernson Brewing Company. The first 300 USD students in attendance will receive complimentary food tickets to use at their vendor of choice.

3. Meet new people

Scheduled during the first week of classes, GatheRED offers an ample opportunity for both incoming and returning students to engage and form new relationships with other USD students as well as Vermillion community members and campus leaders.

4. Enjoy free entertainment

During the event, enjoy activities like cornhole, a caricature artist, face painting and more. Once the event is wrapped up, USD students (with valid student ID) are invited to attend a free movie showing at the Coyote Twin Theater in downtown Vermillion.

5. Engage with student organizations

From the Student Art Alliance to Sorority & Fraternity Life, a variety of student organizations and campus leaders, alongside a few community groups and local businesses, will be present to share more about their organizations and engage with GatheRED attendees.
