Only two such scholarships are awarded in the entire nation each year. They recognize an accomplished PA student who intends to practice in a rural setting.

Mullin is in his second and final year of the physician assistant program, and is expected to graduate with a master’s degree in PA studies in July, 2017. The Hartford, SD native received his undergraduate degree from USD in biology/psychology.

The physician assistant program at the University of South Dakota began educating physician assistants in 1993, and is the only physician assistant program in South Dakota. The program is part of the university’s comprehensive School of Health Sciences that includes ten different fields of health care study and professional preparation.
