USD to Host Wellness Center Natatorium Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting April 15

Built in part with support from the City of Vermillion, the aquatic facility adds an estimated 45,800 gross square feet to the existing Wellness Center. It will allow USD to host everything from public swimming classes to large swimming competitions, providing many new opportunities in water fitness and wellness for all age groups.
The natatorium houses an Olympic-sized competition pool, activity pool, Ninja Cross™ aquatic obstacle course, multipurpose room, hot tub, steam room, athletic locker rooms, expanded wellness locker rooms, meet management room, coaches’ offices and lifeguard room.
In addition to serving the campus community and the public, the natatorium will be home to USD’s swimming and diving program. With seating for 400, fans will have a better viewing experience to cheer on all swimming and diving athletes.
“The Wellness Center Natatorium is an incredible addition for USD students and student athletes, as well as the Vermillion community,” said USD President Sheila K. Gestring. “The natatorium offers opportunities to host events that will bring people from USD, Vermillion and surrounding communities together. We are grateful to the City of Vermillion for their support of the Wellness Center expansion project.”
