The mission of the USD SSOM pediatric residency is to train empathetic pediatricians committed to providing quality care and advocating for the well-being of children in their communities. The program trains six residents per year are trained at Sanford Children's Hospital and additional dedicated pediatric clinics.

Students learn evidence-based pediatric care from over 250 faculty in 21 sub-specialty divisions. Life-long learning is available through lectures, case-based learning, simulation, Topic of the Month, journal club, Pediatric Grand Rounds and Faculty Development Series.

Chatterjee-Gogoi Family Scholarship

First preference is given to third- or fourth-year students with an expressed interest in pursuing a career in pediatrics. The scholarship is renewable if students remain in good academic standing.

Jeane Goodhope Hanson Larsen Scholarship

One scholarship is awarded to a third-year student annually. This scholarship is renewable if the recipient remains in good academic standing. One scholarship is awarded as a renewal to a fourth-year student annually. Preference is given to recipients with one or more children who have expressed an interest for pursuing a career in pediatrics.

Dr. Kathleen Stevens Scholarship

Recipients must be third- or fourth-year students in the Sanford School of Medicine with demonstrated financial need. The recipient is eligible to retain the scholarship if they remain in good academic standing. First preference is given to a student with an expressed interest in pediatrics.

Janet Atkinson Weston, M.D. Scholarship

First preference is given to a third- or fourth-year female student with an expressed interest in pursuing a career in pediatrics. The scholarship is renewable if the recipient maintains academic progress.
