Spirit Squad Request Form
Charlie Coyote and the USD Spirit Squad proudly represent the University of South Dakota at select campus and community events
If you’re looking to elevate your event with Coyote pride and high-energy engagement, we encourage you to submit a request.
Submission and Approval
Requests must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event date. Submission of a request does not guarantee approval. All appearances are scheduled based on availability, with USD Athletics events and official university functions receiving priority consideration. Confirmation and approval details will be communicated via email within 3 business days.
Mascot Rates and Fees
University departments and organizations = $50 per hour
External and private events = $75 per hour + mileage
Cheer and Dance requests are free of charge
There will be a travel charge of $0.60 per mile for any event that is more than 30 miles round trip. By default, appearance durations will be one hour. Two hours is the maximum length of time Charlie will perform at your event. For any events more than one hour away from Vermillion, Charlie’s appearance is required to be two hours.
Event Requirements
To ensure a safe and professional experience, event organizers must provide:
- A parking spot at the venue
- A private place to change (not a public restroom)
- Drinking water, available at all times
- On-site contact for duration of the appearance
- Event host is responsible to ensure that a safe environment is provided for Charlie
Restrictions
Appearances will not be scheduled for political events or activities that conflict with university policies. Mascot costumes and spirit squad uniforms may not be rented, borrowed, or used by outside parties.
Cancellations
Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be submitted at least 48 hours in advance. The University of South Dakota Athletics Department reserves the right to modify or cancel appearances due to scheduling conflicts, safety concerns, or unforeseen circumstances.
