USD to Host 2025 Missouri River Science and Management Symposium
This day-long symposium is an annual event sponsored by the Missouri River Institute at USD, which explores the natural and cultural resources of the river through its focus on research, education and outreach.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. and will feature talks on research and management activities related to the Missouri River and its basin. Topics include floods, hydrology, sedimentology, effects of river management, riparian forests, and fish and wildlife, as well as information on property management related to the river.
More than 15 speakers will share insights at the symposium, including presenters from USD and other academic institutions, as well as presenters from federal and state government agencies.
“For more than 20 years, the annual Missouri River Science and Management Symposium has brought together researchers, scholars, and land and water managers to discuss issues related to the conservation and management of the river,” said David Swanson, Ph.D., professor in the USD Department of Biology and director of the Missouri River Institute. “We are looking forward to continuing to gain knowledge of and appreciation for the river and to build effective networks to guide multi-use management of the river and its resources.”
The event is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. For additional information and a full schedule of events, please visit the symposium’s website.
